Nursing Homes have long struggled with problems related to Resident wandering and elopement. Behavior management and Resident safety are two of the most essential requirements of Federal and State licensing agencies and regulations on all long term care providers. If a Patient leaves a facility un-noticed by staff, the Resident is at high risk of imminent danger of personal harm possibly ending in loss of life. In addition to the severe ramifications on a Facility from a liability and public relations perspective, the Facility is also subject to potentially crippling, regulatory sanctions and reimbursement fines.

Focus Solution’s software product, TracPoint™, is a specially designed Resident Management Information Solution that utilizes a variety of hardware solutions to provide precise asset location and wireless communication. TracPoint™ utilizes state of the art, real time, RFID wireless technology that supports effective management of health care providers’ most critical assets; it’s Residents, its staff and its equipment. TracPoint™ software solutions are scalable, flexible and user friendly. It can be adapted to any building layout, staffing pattern and Resident management needs.

In the past, Nursing Homes have implemented available existing technology in an effort to address this critical issue.  With older “passive” technology, a Resident wearing a device (a PAL) approaches a door or elevator which then sets off a loud audible alarm for staff to respond. The alarm sound, alarm radius and sensitivity are fixed for all Residents regardless of their individual behavior or needs. The system is fixed to ring an alarm and/or lock a door only when approached with no tracking or monitoring capability, and no ability for the facility to adjust the system for a specified Resident and their specific needs. They are useless for any other purpose other than their limited range and function.

The "secret sauce" for the TracPoint™ Real Time System is in its software. Using our copyrighted Rules Engine, location information is evaluated against all the rules in the system to assess for violations. Nursing Centers, Assisted Living Care Centers and Hospitals define zones (floors, rooms, hallways) and triggers for each rule. When an event occurs, notifications are sent to a variety of communication devices (workstations, PDAs, pagers, and kiosks) instantly sharing information on the event location and rule violated with the appropiate recipients.  TracPoint™ software constantly monitors PAL movements, but operates without dedicated personnel and provides valuable reports from the data generated.

TracPoint™ radio transmitters, or PALs as we call them, are dual function devices.  They are location devices, similar to GPS but designed to operate indoors, and Wireless Call Bell devices.  In the event a Resident or Staff member requires immediate assistance, a simple push of a button, sends a message of Assistance Needed and the precise location of the individual.

24/7/365 , the device sends a beacon to the system showing its exact location anywhere on the property with a resolution of 3 to 5 feet.  Batteries last 4.5- 5 years, and notify users when battery power is becoming low.
